I have purchased an ML-3 ringlite for macro I need the manual for the canon EOS 1. I am aware that the camera was manufactured in 1998 and has now been discontinued. I have just bought an EOS body and have no data on it.

Despite what the manuals say,
I cannot get the flash to work properly in Av (aperature
priority) mode. It seems to work in Programmed mode, but
it will not let me change the aperature - I'm stuck with
the f/4.5 which gives me practically no depth of field.

In Av mode, I can change aperature just fine, but the
shutter timing just changes right along with it as though
the flash weren't there. The lightning bolt shows in the
viewfinder and the flash fires, but the shutter stays open
for the full time. Essentially, I'm probably overexposing
by at least a full stop.

I'd love some feedback here if anyone can provide it. I
can't seem to find any info anywhere on the
interoperability of the 7E with the ML-3. Should I sell
the flash and get the MR14EX?

If I get through this technical snafu, I'll write it up and
submit it as a doc. In the meantime, any input would be
much appreciated.

Great site, many thanks to Jim Strutz for the command dial fix. my eos 100 works great. I've now got a fungus problem with my canon Ef 100-300mm USM lens. I've managed to clean the front elements but the middle elements are affected too. Tried to go in from the bottom end but seems very complicated. Do You know of any suggestions or sites that show how to help me gain access to the middle elements.

Hi, I just bought a used EOS elan with some stains on the shutter blades. I tried cleaning it with alcohol but it reappears after shooting 1 roll. Anyone has any idea how to dismantle the shutters?

Regarding Manuals - I have just bought a second hand EOS5 with the extra hand grip, but no manual! So I searched the net and found a couple of sites selling Manuals (copies). The one I have purchased from is http://www.manuals2go.com - my manual was USD6.99 and could be downloaded as a PDF file. I am not affiliated with this site and have not yet received the manual (ordered about half an hour ago, awaiting instructions for the FTP site). As I said, I ordered my manual after reading 2 or 3 sites only (from a long selection - Google search - entered Canon EOS5 manuals - the plural of manual made a difference to the search results). I am looking for an extended version of the Canon EOS 5 manual, if anyone knows to locate one. The manual that comes with the camera is dire (hasn't changed format since the EOS 100 manual that I bought many, many years ago!).

Split Image Focusing Screen for Canon D30?

I'm using a host of Leica-R lenses on my Canon D30 digital SLR. It is very annoying and sometimes impossible to focus correctly with the factory fitted focusing screen.
I've inquired with BRIGHTSCREEN for a Split Image Focusing Screen, but they only offer a matte screen with "digital crop format" at an installed cost of $ 200.00.

Is anybody out there who can give me a hint on how to get a Split Image Focusing Screen into a D30. Hacks are welcome, since I am quite experienced in working on optical instruments.

The REBEL II and REBEL S II are similar cameras - except for the presence of a pop-up flash on the "S" model. Check the list above for REBEL S II.

hello,
can you guys give me some advice i need help on eos 30 which i bought recently i paid 480 us dollars for a new black body,
the cmara was fine all systems working.
but when i mount an external flash 380ex and 220 ex the flash refuses to fire, i also chnged the setings even then it refuses to work, i also cleaned the contacts,
the same flash works fine on eos 300
when i copared the contact i find that the mettlic part on the top most part missing can this be the problem
which is the best way of rectifying the same

Hi,

I have a EOS 600 but no manual.

I would like to use a flash but I need to know i have to press one of the numerous buttons in order to do so.

Reason being is that right now, the flash goes off even when there is ample surrounding light. Also, when it is too dark, the camera ofcourse disables the ability to take a picture and that is still happening even when i put the flash on the body which kind of implies to me is the camera does not know the flash is attached.

Why is it that when I try to download the EOS 33/Elan 7 PDF*
manual it comes down as an *.asp file and not as an *.pdf file.
If I view it from the web site it opens up in adobe acrobat
reader as an *.pdf file.

Since I posted my last entry I have been pootling around with the PDF manual for the EOS 500N.
(Please note it is a scanned copy of an original, quality is OK but certainly not perfect.)

Anyway I have created a version that takes the PDF frames and added it to Word 2000. This means that I have managed to separate it into four bits so E-Mailing it is now slightly easier. It still totals 7Mb.

Hi I have previously offered the EOS 500N manual in PDF format. In sending this to people I have some problems due to the size of it and the limitations of Mail servers.

If anyone asks for it in the future I will try my best to send it to you but I cannot guarantee that you will be able to receive it. However I am endeavouring to find a program to split the PDF file into suitable mailable bits.

The pages are Jpegs and so it is possible to either save each one, create a Word file or print out each page but it is a long process.

BTW have just checked the download size of the EOS 500N manual and it weighes in at 6.5Mb. With a fair 56Kbps dial up it should take 20-25 mins. With Broadband it took less than 5 mins.
My copy is possibly better quality but then it is 11.5Mb in size and can only be done by E-Mail as it is not hosted.

Take your pick.

Just to let those of you out there that have the EOS 500N (Rebel G)that seeing as there are now two websites that have the manual for this camera available I would prefer it if you didn't mail me asking for copies of the manual I have.
The manual is at http://www.eonclash.com/eos500n.pdf and also on the Canonfd site.
It is about 6.5Mb in size, is in PDF (Acrobat reader) and is of reasonable quality and will expalin everything you need to know about the less obvious features.
I will still be more than happy to answer questions or if you have problems locating or downloading the file.
Bear in mind that my version is in bits due to mail server limits you really would be better off downloading it yourself.

To order user manuals from Canon in the UK, the number is listed at http://www.canon.co.uk/contact/index.html. The number puts you through to the Robert Scott Association (I think) and a very polite woman can take card or cheque payments (around £7 with postage and packaging) for manuals.

I have searched nearly everywhere for a Canon EOS IX E manual for the eye focus camera sold only in Japan. So far I've been unsuccessful. Can anyone help? I'll take one in Japanese if that is the only one available as Toyota has a plant near here & I can get it translated.

As the two sites that held the EOS 500N (rebel G) manual have disappeared (Anyone know where the Canon FD site has gone?)

I am renting an EOS 3 for a try. They didn't have a manual where I rented it, so I have some questions:

1) How do I delete out all the previous eye calibrations so I can start from scratch?

2) I remember reading that this camera sometimes does not behave as well with slower lenses. But it also has the ability to AF at f/8. I will be using an f/4.5-5.6 zoom on it with a teleconverter some of the time. What do I need to do to optimize it for slower f/stops and for using it at f/8?

3) I know I can get the list of custom functions on photozone.com. But does anyone know where I can find more complete instructions online? I don't see one here, or am I missing something?

To those looking for 3000 and 3000N manuals - the 3000 is basically the same camera as the Rebel XS or EOS 500, and the 3000N is basically the same camera as the Rebel G or EOS 500N. There's a manual for the XS/500 here but not for the 500N.

The usual other places to try to get documentation (buy on eBay, call Canon, buy a third-party book like the Magic Lantern guides) are also worth a shot.

Hi, According to EOS camera manual there is a feature called 'focusing aid' which helps manual focusing.
"You can also use the focusing aid. Select any focusing point and focus manually while pressing the shutter button halfway. When focus is achieved, the selected focusing point will light together with the in-focus indicator."
And now my question: Is this something which is related only to certain type of AF lenses (like USM), or is this usable also with totally manual lenses like old, old Tamrons with adapter and without any electronics? Thanks,

Purchased a 600/630 (secondhand) sometime ago for the 6 fps it offers and had no problem with it. Thought a flash would be useful, and managed to obtain a 420EZ, which all references I found said should work on the 600. It does, but it is an exceptionally tight fit, to the point where I fear I'll break the base of flash when installing/removing it. I've closely examined the hot shoe on the camera and the flash base and nothing appears bent, twisted or otherwise out of shape to make fitting it awkward. Anyone else noticed a similar problem.

My camera has a CF for Rear (second-curtain) sync, My flash also has a setting for Rear sync. For Rear sync operation do I set the camera and not the flash, the flash and not the camera or set both?
My Sigma EF 430 super flash sets itself to Rear when I mount it on my Elan 7e (can't be reset to front (normal)). On every other EOS camera I tried the flash can be set to front or rear.

The Canon Bar Code Reader was an optional accessory fot the EOS 10 (10S)and EOS 100 (Elan). I don't think it could be used by any other model. It came with a small case and book with 23 special settings (like Image Zone settings) that could be entered and saved. Later Canon made a second book "Barcodes 101". Search the internet and you will find more info.

I have 38 different Canon user manuals on cd. I have been reading all the requests formanuals and I can supply most of them.here is a partial listing:
EOS 620/650
EOS 630 ( same as EOS600)
EOS 700
EOS 850/750/750QD
EOS A2
EOS A2E
EOS ELAN
EOS ELAN iie
EOS REBEL 2000
EOS REBEL G
There are some older cameras such as AT1, A1, AE1, AE1 PROG.
I just don't want to try to list all of them here.

Most of these are zipped PDF files and total is 455 meg. I have a web site but no idea how to put them up for download and don't have the space, either.I willbe happy to donate these toanyone who has web site and ability to make them available, free. Please get in touch with me and let me know.

Also lensinc.com had manuals for download free so check out there to see what they have. I just left there and they dont have as many as I do, but they have some.

I hope I can help someone to furnish these manuals. I hate that so many ppl need them and I have them butnoway to send. I know I can send some by email or yahoo messenger but too many ppl need them for me to do that.

I have found someone who will post the manuals I have on his site for free downloading. they will appear on:

He has other manuals on the site now and also has repair manuals for sale at reasonable prices. Check out this site. I imagine it will take a week or so for him to set up my manuals.

I had several ppl send me mail asking for manuals but they are much too large to get through the email servers. Most about 17 meg in size.

Couldn't find an email address to the website, afraid I do not have any of these Manuals anymore, could my messages and email be taken off the website please.
My last message that is not valid anymore was as follows:
"I really need a copy of the English version of the Canon EOS 350D Manual, would someone be able to do a swop with me at all with some foreign one's that I had come with my camera before I look for buying one, seems a shame to spend out £13 for the manual and all the cd's that came with it (as I already have the cd's etc).
I have French, Italian and Dutch manual's for this camera, they are brand new.

There is a good way of making a remote shutter release at this site (http://chantalcurrid.com/remoteControl.htm) I have made one myself and it works beautifully with both my Rebel Ti and D-Rebel XT.

People, think about what you need and who you got it from. I can't say this will work for everyone, but I would try it nevertheless. Go to Canon's website, find your model of camera, select support, and then download library. If this doesn't work, see if there is an online chat you can do to speak with someone. :P Hope this helps.------------------------------------------------------------
